Carroll Laverne Hill was born January 16, 1935 to Loyd and Mildred Geist in Alva, Oklahoma. They lived on a farm west of Aline, OK and Carroll attended grade school there until about the 4th grade. They then moved to Cleo Springs, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1957. During her sixth grade year she contracted Polio and spent several weeks in the hospital. Jay started school in Wellington KS then his family moved to Corbin KS and Jay continued his education and graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell KS.
