Grace Alberta Shaffer passed away on March 26, 2021 surrounded by her family at St. Teresa Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on December 31, 1938 to Jack and Angie Falkenberg. She worked as a waitress in her Aunt’s restaurant where she met the love of her life Joe Shaffer. A year later they were married on November 4, 1956 where she then stayed home to care for her 3 children Randy, Debbie and Dan while assisting Joe with the bookkeeping for the family business. After the children were grown, she became the manager of Friendship Meals where she enjoyed her job for many years until her health forced her to retire.
Alberta is preceded in death by husband Joe Shaffer, parents Jack and Angie Falkenburg, siblings: Ronnie and Margie Falkenberg and Wayne Falkenberg, grandsons BJ Shaffer and Tim Massey. Surviving relatives are children, Randy Shaffer and Leta Logan of Caldwell, Kansas, Debbie and Ernie Massey of Renfrow, Oklahoma, Dan Shaffer and Annette Rhine of Caldwell, Kansas. Gerry Falkenberg of Wichita, Kansas; stepchildren Ted Shaffer of Hermiston, Oregon, and Patty Jones of Kinston, North Carolina. 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Caldwell United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Caldwell United Methodist Church or to the Caldwell Senior Center and sent in care of the mortuary.
Visitation will be held 8 am to 8pm on Monday, March 29, 2021.
