Allan Rader


September 22, 1937 ~ April 21, 2013


Colonel Allan Leon Rader (ret), 75, was called home by The Lord on Sunday April 21st, 2013 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Longwood Florida, in the presence of his wife and daughter. Al was born September 22nd, 1937 in Caldwell Kansas, the oldest of 3 sons of Owen and Helen Rader. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1955 and earned a BA degree at Kansas State University in 1959. Al married Patricia Ann Vycital of Alamota Kansas in 1958.


Al received a commission in the United States Army in 1960 and served 24 years retiring in 1984 at the rank of Colonel. During his career in the military Col. Rader completed two tours in Viet Nam, and retired as the G2 (Intelligence Officer) for FORSCOM (U.S. Army Forces Command) at Ft McPherson Georgia. Following his retirement Col. Rader and his wife Pat moved to Florida where he worked for the Florida State Golf Association until 1992.


Col. Rader was preceded by his parents Owen and Helen Rader, and is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Keith and wife Debbie, his daughter Kimberly Clark; grandchildren Chadd Clark, Michael Rader, and Thomas Rader. He is also survived by his brothers Ron and wife Kay (Dewey, Ok), Larry and wife Carol (Caldwell, Ks), nephews Mark, Jason, David , and niece Lori (Rader)Barnes.


Funeral Mass for Col. Rader will be held on Friday the 26th of April 2013 at 9:30 am at The Church of the Annunciation in Longwood Florida. Wake service will be held at the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Altamonte Springs on Thursday the 25th of April 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the “Wounded Warriors Project” in honor of our servicemen. Donations may be left at Schaeffer Mortuary.
