Alta Mardis


December 26, 1915 ~ December 28, 2012


Alta Grace Terry Cash Wencl Mardis was born in Jay, Oklahoma on December 26, 1915 to George L. and Electa E. (Mapes) Terry. She was married to Otto Jayc Cash on December 18, 1930. To this union three daughters Lucille, Louise and Lottie were born. Her mother always made her home with them, as Otto and Alta worked at any job to support their family so Grandma Terry took care of their girls. They had Cafes and then during the War they worked in Wichita at Boeing and lived in Wichita. After the War they came back to Caldwell and Otto opened up the O.J. Cash Fix It Shop in Caldwell. Otto was killed in a welding truck accident in June of 1961.


Alta later married Henry Wencl and LeRoy Mardis. They are both deceased.


Alta is a long time member of the Central Christian Church here in Caldwell. She has been living at the Goodrick Care Home here in Caldwell for several years and now God has taken her to this wonderful home in Heaven that she has always prayed for. Alta died Friday, December 28, 2012, she was 97 years old.


She is survived by her three daughters, Lucille, Louise and Lottie; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great-great- grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Central Christian Church in Caldwell, Kansas.


Interment will be in the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.


Memorials may be given in Alta’s name to the Central Christian Church, Caldwell.
