Barbara J. Pratt, 69, of Caldwell, KS, passed away at Wesley Medical Center on March 18, 2013 after a very brave battle against cancer.
Barbara was born on October 16, 1943 in Tryon, OK to Buford and Lena Reed. She moved to Caldwell after she married Charles Benjamin Pratt, Sr. on November 4, 1961. They had five children and five grandchildren. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband and cooking. Barbara was crafty and creative and loved being with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Lena Reed and one brother, Jimmy Reed.
She is survived by her sisters Naomi Fincher of Seguine, TX and Dee Hamburg of Wellington, KS; brother Ron Reed of Atoka, OK; her husband of 51 years Charles Benjamin Pratt, Sr. of Caldwell, KS; son Charles Benjamin Pratt, Jr. of Caldwell, KS; daughters, Cheryl Pratt of Wyoming, MI, Pam Murphy of Midlothian, TX, Melissa Keys of Wichita, KS and Janet Cervantes of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Christopher Pratt of Wyoming, MI, Falanne Harris of Midlothian, TX, Stephanie Ratliff of Wyoming, MI, Taira Keys of Wichita, KS and Claire Cervantes of Wichita, KS.
A memorial graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Caldwell City Cemetery. Rev. Dan Price will officiate.
Memorials may be given in Barbara’s name to the American Cancer Society.

We are so sorry to learn of Barbara's passing, even though we know it means she is no longer suffering. My (Marilyn's) first memories of Barbara are of working together as our kids were in 4-H years ago. She was also using some of her cooking skills at the hospital during the time my dad, Ted Lungren, was a part of the "Southenders." She always had a friendly smile.

I am so shocked and saddened by Barbara's death. I have gotten to know her pretty well this past year when she would come to the Caldwell Library. She was one of our most prolific readers and I will really missing visiting with her! We also know Benny, who has baled hay for us the past few years.

I just heard about this and my heart is broken. Barbara took really great care of me when I worked at Caldwell hospital. She was a great cook and a great listener. I will never forget her. My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you. So Sorry to hear about your great loss. I remember one of my visits, being at Stella and Charley's house and swinging on a tire swing with all the kids while your mom, Barbara fixed us a super lunch. My grandmother, Ruby Ziegler was helping her and it was just a super day. Benny must of been around the age of 6 and it seems like we pestered some cats and dogs that day too. Just know, I'm thinking of you all and again, so sorry for your loss.

I am very saddened to hear of Barb being sick and of her passing . Barb was such a sweet loveable person to see at the hospital. I missed her very much when she left.
