November 22, 1939 ~ November 26, 2018
Sandra Beryl Shoemaker was born November 22, 1939 in South Porcupine, Ontario, Canada. She was born the daughter of Jay and Vera (Hall) Shoemaker. Beryl died at home November 26, 2018. She was 79 years old.
Her father worked in the mines, so they moved around a lot and settled for a time in California. Beryl graduated from Bishop High School, Bishop, California in 1957 and from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas in 1960. She then went to work for Denver Martin.
She married Rudy Dvorak August 5, 1961. Beryl worked for Boeing for a time before starting her teaching career which took her to Dexter, Delphos and McCune Schools.
Rudy and Beryl adopted two sons, Danny in 1969 and Chad in 1972. They moved to a farm outside Caldwell in 1973 and later moved into town in 1983. Her family was always her pride and joy. She never met a stranger and loved to show all her purse full of family pictures to anyone who stopped long enough to look. She was very involved with her community and belonged to many civic organizations. She was a member of the Caldwell Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy; sons, Danny (Julie) Dvorak of Wellington, Chad (Brandi) Dvorak of Caldwell; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Many thanks to Rivercross Hospice for their support, allowing her to be cared for at home while fighting Alzheimer’s.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Schaeffer Mortauary Chapel.
Memorials may be given in memory of Beryl to the Bluejay Backers and left in care of the mortuary.

Heaven just gained another angel, Beryl was everything that life is in a small town for me. I've always remembered fondly years after moving away from Caldwell that she was never hurried, she always had time to listen to anything you had to say that was going on in your life whether it was bad or good (mostly good). She loved kids, and was always asking me about them. She had this way about caring that made it seem the sun was shining a little brighter after you talked with her. She loved learning about what made life exciting for you. She will be missed.
