Betty Jean (Reed) Kern, 89, homemaker, passed away March 19, 2012 at Medicalodge of Arkansas City, Kansas.
She was born May 30, 1922 in Caldwell, Kansas to Frank and Sarah Stringer. She married Hugh Reed.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. She enjoyed being a caregiver and spending time with her family. She also loved gardening, fishing, and quilting. She was always fun and loving and full of piss and vinegar.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Bill Reed.
Betty is survived by her children, Virginia Stamm, Ruth Mark, Jim Reed, Tom Reed, Larry Reed, and Mary Mort.
A memorial graveside will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Goodel Cemetery, Drury, Kansas.
Memorials may be given in Betty's name to the Goodel Cemetery or to the Alzheimer's Association.

My mom, Mary Mort, didn't even tell me that my grandma had passed away. Granted she didn't even come to me when I was on my deathbed...
Grandma, sorry I wasn't there to properly see you off into the next life. I wasn't aware and I hope you can forgive me for that.
