Betty Tracy


February 26, 1943 ~ March 17, 2012


Betty Jane Kraus Tracy was born February 26, 1943 in South San Francisco, California to Alfred J. Kraus and Florence M. (Clift) Kraus.


Betty married Richard “Dick” Tracy on June 5, 1963 in Wellington, Kansas. To this marriage were born; Philip Dean Tracy, Teresa Ann Tracy, John Edward Tracy and Daniel Scott Tracy.


Betty and her family lived in Colorado, Missouri, California and Caldwell Kansas.


Betty left this life on March 17, 2012 in Caldwell, Kansas.


She was preceded in death by both of her parents, a newborn baby brother, Freddie Lorence Kraus.


She is survived by her husband, Dick Tracy of Caldwell, Kansas; her son, Philip and his wife Donna Tracy of Pasco, Washington; daughter Teresa Durazo and her husband Julian of Wellington, Kansas; son John Tracy of the family home in Caldwell, Kansas,; son, Danny Tracy and his wife Sharron of Canyon City, California. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Tiffanie Tracy, Damien Tracy, Magan Curtner, Ronald Curtner, Julian Durazo, Jr., Bobbye Tracy and Cody Tracy; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Anzaldo, Lyla Anzaldo and Kalista Curtner; two sisters, June Kraus and Pat Kraus both of La Junta CO.


Betty and Dick attended a number of antique auctions and shows throughout the Midwest, selling and buying antiques.


She had a love for cockatiels, parrots, horses and Lucky the dog.


In 1988, Betty and Dick were named the Family of the Year for Aqua Dulce, California by the Los Angeles County board of supervisors.


She was also honored by the Aqua Dulce, California Lions Woman Club, town council, and 4-H club for years of long service to the community.


In 1988 and ’89, Betty won a national championship parade equestrian rider on her horse, Dolly.


Betty is known for having two of the largest bell collections in the U.S.


She was baptized almost three years ago at the Wellington Church of Christ. She remained a faithful member until her passing.


Betty was 69 at the time of her passing and she and Dick had been married for almost 49 years. She will be greatly missed by family and friends throughout the U.S.


Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Wellington Church of Christ.


Interment will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Welllington, Kansas.


Memorials may be given in Betty's name to the Wellington Church of Christ.

Dick...I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Betty's passing away....We loved Betty, and her kind and gentle ways....I am so glad I had the opportunity to talk to her at the Wichita Coliseum Sunday before last..Our prayer is for Angels to surround you and uplift you and your family in Spirit...I know she will always be with you all and be looking down on you from above....If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know....You are in our thoughts and prayers....I am so sorry for your loss of a kind, and lovely person. Im so sorry for your loss. I only directed it to you three because you are the only ones I know personally. I havent known you guys very long but have enjoyed waiting on you and Betty. I kind of feel like it was more of a friendship than just a customer. I will keep you guys in my prayers.
