Bonnie Guerra

Bonnie Lynn Guerra, 58, of Caldwell, Kansas, passed away on September 24, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by her loving family. She was an amazing wife, mom, “GG”, sister, aunt/auntie, and friend.

Bonnie was born on December 11, 1967 to Stephan and Sharon (Dempsey) Benke in Russell, Kansas. She was an onery child, always up to something with her siblings; Barbara, Brenda and Bob. Looking back at family photos, when she was younger, she was always the one making a silly face in the picture. Bonnie lived her entire life in Caldwell, Kansas, other than a short stay in California in the late 80’s. That is where she met the love of her life, Arturo Guerra. On July 6, 1990, they were united in marriage in Caldwell.  

Bonnie was a devoted mother whose greatest joy was loving and taking care of her family. She gave herself without hesitation, always putting her children and those she loved before her own needs. Her love was selfless, steady and unconditional. She showed remarkable strength through life’s challenges, meeting each day with courage and grace. Even when times were difficult, she continued to be a source of comfort, encouragement, and love to those around her. Her children, now adults, say she was the strongest person they knew and was the first person they called with good news and the first when things fell apart.

Her grandchildren knew her as “GG” and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether it be baking oatmeal raisin cookies, making homemade donuts, teaching them woodburning or other crafts or watching “Deal or No Deal” with a cup of coffee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 22 years, Art Guerra, her unborn child, brother Robert “Bob” Benke, sister, Brenda Zitsch, uncle, John Flint, and longtime family friend, Frank Robinson.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Tommy Guerra, Margarita Guerra (Cy Olivas), and Weigand Guerra all of Caldwell, Kansas. David (Ashley) Raborn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Arturo Jr. of Bakersfield, California, her grandchildren, CJ, CaliTee and Canyon, sister Barbara (Kelly) Eslinger, nieces, Jenni (Kelly) Conrady and Crystal Mingle, nephews, Brandon (Toni) Zitsch, Kai Zitsch, and Christopher (Cerina) Mingle, plus many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel in Caldwell, Kansas. Following interment, there will be a small gathering at 3:30 p.m., at Sugar Sisters, 20 S. Main, for family and friends to share stories and memories. 

The family requests no flowers, instead take a walk somewhere beautiful, or call someone you love. Memorials may be made to the Bonnie Guerra Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
