Brittany Nispel

December 10, 1985 ~ February 28, 2009

The second of three children, Brittany Lynn, was born in the Caldwell Hospital on December 10, 1985 to Bryan and Lynn Jenista Nispel. On March 23, 1986 Rev. Bill McFall baptized Brittany in the Caldwell United Methodist Church.

Brittany grew up in Caldwell where she was surrounded by family. She played with cousins, spent time with grandparents, hunted and fished as well as played near and in the Chicaskia River. As a very young girl, Brittany earned the nickname “Beamer” because of her infectious grin. As a softball pitcher, the name took on an additional meaning. Brittany loved to play softball and her team, coached by her Dad, went to the state softball

tournament several times.

Brittany attended Caldwell schools, graduating in the class of 2004. A poet, she was a smart student who had plenty of time for harmless mischief. When she would call Chandra and ask her out to lunch, Chandra quickly learned she’d be paying for both of them as Brittany always claimed to not have any money. She was a texting whiz on her cell phone, going too fast for anyone in her family to keep up. She loved driving around in her red “Holly Honda.”

From Caldwell High School, Brittany went on to attain an associate degree from Cowley Community College. She loved children, especially her “special boys,” nephew Kaden Morgan and cousin Allyson’s three boys. Brittany was very good at working with people who face extra challenges. She enjoyed doing things with and for many of the residents at North Field Apartments and they loved spending time with Brittany.

On Saturday, February 28, 2009 Brittany died in Wichita, KS at the age of 23.

She is survived by her mother, Lynn Nispel, and her father and step-mother, Bryan and Marla Nispel, all of Caldwell; her sister and brother-in-law, Chandra and Jeremiah Morgan of Overland Park, KS; a brother Nick Nispel of Caldwell; two step-brothers, Justin Whittaker of Wichita and Brady Moddelmog of Manhattan, KS; and her grandparents, Edna Nispel and Leon and Barbara Jenista, all of Caldwell. Also mourning Brittany are her aunts and uncles, Sandra and J.T. Kelso, Cindy Jenista, Julie and Tim Stuck, Mary Lynn and Mark Jenkins, and Randy Jenista; her cousins, Allyson Krenek, Kelsey Krenek, Austen Krenek, Emily Day, Kami Jenkins, and Tyler Jenkins; her “special boys”, Kaden Morgan, and Caleb John, Jayce David, and Jax Austen Noyes; as well as many other relatives, classmates, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Caldwell, Kansas. Memorials may be given in Brittany's name to the Kansas Special Olympics. Friends may call at the mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009.

Dear Nispel/Jenista family, I am deeply saddened by your lost, Brittany was a very special person. I have fond memories of Brittany following AL and I around when she younger, I will never forget her bright personality and of course her big beaming smile. It's soo hard to understand why these things happen, but please find peace in knowing that she will never be forgotten by the ones whose lives she touched. My prayers are with you.
