Callie Jo Reilly came into our family on April 11, 1988 to parents Tim and Kim Reilly and a little sister to Cassie and Joe Reilly. The three siblings developed a strong bond and allowing this little vibrant spirited little girl to be a part of their time with friends and events. Cassie and Joe were Callie’s interpreters in her early years as they knew what she was saying and wanted. I know that is a hard fact to believe as we all know how Callie was quite the talker. Callie took on the task of helping her parents keeping her two siblings in line by reporting anything they shouldn’t be doing…but that task diminished shortly after she started to attend Caldwell Preschool. We learned from the preschool teachers that each day they had to coax her and another classmate out from under the table by giving them a marshmallow Peep every day…when asked why she did that she replied because I love Peeps. Callie grew up in a neighborhood full of kids and there was always something going on to do. Kids would ride up on bikes to let her know there was a football game about to start at the neighborhood field “square heads” and off she would go. Cassie, Joe, and Callie had a great childhood together and there isn’t enough paper or time to share all the stories. Callie was thrilled when she heard she was going to be a first-time aunt…and not only one but two girls, which was Lexie and Kylee. Callie decided she needed a change of scenery and packed her bags and took a flight to California. She lived with her Uncle Kelly and Aunt Leesa enjoying California life for four years. She worked at various jobs, such as an assisted living facility and Bank of America.
Callie always said her two best accomplishments in life was being a mother to her girls, Skylla and Shealynn. She loved and loves them so much! She treasured taking Sky on “Yes” days and having girl time doing “girlie” things. She valued family time, especially during family vacations, family gatherings, and last-minute short fun trips. She started her Christmas shopping early but would give the gifts long before the holiday because she didn’t like to wait. Everyone knew not to be by her during the Christmas saran wrap Christmas game, it was a safety issue! She shared pictures and videos of her kids doing silly things and you could hear her contagious laugh in the background. Callie liked to have her niece and nephew, Emma and Kurtes, over to spend the night…she always would mention she was Ma…aka the mean aunt and they would laugh.
Callie spent ten plus years working as a CNA at area nursing homes. She cared deeply for the residents she cared for…. making sure they had what they needed even if she had to purchase it herself. She wanted them to feel she was part of their life, like family. She recently decided to go back to school and had her plans in motion to expand her career in the medical field.
Callie’s life, though cut far too short, was one lived to the fullest. She had a vibrant spirit, a contagious laugh, and a way of reminding everyone around her to embrace life’s moments. Through the difficult times she endured, Callie grew to treasure the beauty in the good days, never taking joy of friendship for granted. She was a mother whose love knew no bounds, a sister whose support was unwavering, and a daughter whose presence brought light to her family. Her friendships were deeply important to her, and she carried them in her heart with gratitude and loyalty.
Those who knew Callie will remember her as someone who lived with courage, compassion, and joy. Someone who truly understood how precious life is. Callie will be missed but her spirit lives through her daughters and our memories. Callie, passed away unexpectedly on September 27th and gained her angel wings, leaving behind a family, friends, and community who will forever cherish her memory.
Callie was preceded in death by her father Tim Reilly, brother, Joe Reilly, grandfather, Sonnie Sandell and grandparents, William and Ruth Reilly.
She is survived by her daughters, Skylla and Shealynn, mother Kim Reilly, sister Cassie (Chris) McLaen, grandmother Carolyn Sandell, uncle and aunt: Kelly and Leesa Sandell, Janet Reusser, Nancy and Kyle McNellis, Judy and Les Wiscombe, Maggie Stubblefield, Pat Reilly. Skylla, Shealynn, Kim and family,
My heart is broken into pieces after hearing of Callie's passing. She was such a sweet soul who cared so much about the residents that she took care of, and treated them all like family.
Her laughter and smiles were contagious. I'm so glad that I was able to meet her and call her a friend, even if for a short time.
Girls, your Mom loved you so much and showed me pictures and told me stories about each of you. Always know your Mom is by your side no matter what, and loves you very much.
RIP my sweet friend. You will be missed by many. Love you
