February 17, 1933 ~ October 28, 2014
Clarence C. Milbourn of Mesa AZ died on October 28, 2014 peacefully at home after battling cancer for 4 years. Clarence was born February 17, 1933, in Caldwell Kansas, the son of Henry and Bertie (Donham) Milbourn. Clarence attended grade and high school in Caldwell, graduating in 1951. He then attended Arkansas City Junior College in Arkansas City Kansas. Clarence was married to the former Carol Chaplin of Arkansas City on April 10, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Subsequent to his military service, Clarence worked for Beech Aircraft Corp., Wichita Kansas until 1961 at which time he became employed by the federal government working for the U. S. Air Force, at the Boeing Company, Wichita Kansas. In 1962, Clarence went to work for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), in Houston Texas. In 1967 Clarence was reassigned by NASA to its Headquarters offices in Washington DC. Clarence retired from NASA in 1989 at which time he was the Director of Contract Pricing and Finance. Upon retirement he moved to the Roanoke Valley area of Virginia and later moved to Mesa AZ where he resided until his death.
Clarence was preceded in death by his mother and father, and a son Randall. Clarence leaves his beloved wife Carol, son Craig, daughters Cindy Hansen and her husband Gordon, Cathy Diamantes and her husband John, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on November 13, 2014 at 2 PM at the Central Christian Church in Caldwell, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Caldwell Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Schaeffer Mortuary, 6 N. Main, Caldwell KS 67022.
