Dennis Turek

Dennis Alan Turek was born the second child to John and Anna Turek on June 5, 1955 in Wellington, Kansas. Dennis lived on the family farm and attended Haun Country Grade School and then attended Caldwell Schools where he graduated with the Class of 1974. Dennis loved playing sports, which is how he acquired his known nickname “Goober”. He excelled in football and track and was a great friend. Dennis and his friends had many adventures throughout the years, and they became life-long companions. He will be dearly missed.

Hunting and fishing were two of Dennis’ greatest passions. He had a coon dog named Abner and spend many nights hunting and fishing with his friends and always ready to go pheasant and quail hunting. His fishing exploits are legendary. Dennis enjoyed playing cards; pitch and poker were the games he enjoyed most of all.

Dennis was active in the Caldwell Sportsman’s Club, holding the offices of Director and Treasurer for over 20 years and counting. He was also a member of the Caldwell Czech Chapter. Dennis was always someone that could be depended on and stayed loyal to those surrounding him. Dennis was married to Elizabeth Newland on April 5, 1986. To this union was born one son, Daniel. Dennis and Daniel grew an immediate bond, especially when it came to hunting, fishing and their shared passion of farming. Dennis enjoyed teaching Daniel everything he knew, and loved watching Daniel excel in sports, football in particular. He spent his days as lifetime farmer and was known as a hard worker, good provider and father.

Dennis passed from this earth on March 14, 2021 in his home. He is survived by his son Daniel and his ex-wife Elizabeth. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Turek and brother Gary Turek.

Memorials may be made to the Sportsman’s Club and sent in care of the mortuary. Friends may sign register book 8-5, Monday - Friday.
