James “Jim” William Lappan, age 94; passed away on July 25, 2023 in El Dorado. Jim retired from Coastal Derby Refinery as a materials manager after 35 years. He was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Worker’s International Union, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Caldwell Historical Society and the Caldwell United Methodist Church. Jim proudly served his country and is a WWII Army Air Force Veteran. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Lappan, brother, Richard Lappan; sister LaWanda Kelley and wife of 51 years, Geraldine “Gerry” Lappan. Surviving family includes son, Bill (Ruth) Lappan, daughter, Cheryl (Matt) Acuff, grandchildren Kris, Jennifer, Jimmy, Michelle, Amber and Kevin; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Jim Lappan will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home, 200 S. Star, El Dorado, Kansas, 67042.
Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.
