Dixie Metzinger



Dixie Lee Metzinger, age 80, of Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully at home with hospice on June 1st, 2023 with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. She was a loving mother of five, Christopher Metzinger, Michael Metzinger (Tammy Metzinger), Peter Metzinger (Katrina Metzinger), and Luke Metzinger. Dixie was also a grandmother of five, Cassandra Stephenson, Jessica Robeck, Ashley Netzloff, Acacia Marek, and Damek Marek, and a great grandmother of three, Alyssa Green, Ezra Robeck, and Neva Robeck.


Dixie was born on June 3rd, 1942, in Caldwell, Kansas, to LaVerna Maxine Allen and Dwight Walker Young. She attended Caldwell High School and later a Wichita Trade School for secretaries. Dixie worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for many years before retiring.


In her free time, Dixie enjoyed quilting and playing Scrabble. She was also a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church in Bellevue, NE, and St. Martin of Tours in Caldwell, Kansas.


Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ron Ferguson, her husband of 59 years Roger Earnest Metzinger, and her daughter (51)Gretchen Marie Bell.


A wake will be held on June 24th, 2023, at Korisko, Larkin, Staskiewicz Funeral Home,

5108 "F" Street, Omaha, NE 68117, followed by a wake/memorial service from 10:00-12:00. A luncheon will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Disabled American Veterans Hall, 4515 F St., Omaha, NE, 68117.


Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 with Mass of the Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Klag presiding. Inurnment will follow at the Caldwell City Cemetery.


Memorials may be made to the Caldwell Historical Society or to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the mortuary.
