Don Strong, resident of Caldwell, Kansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2020 at the age of 84.
Don was born the son of Elvin and Lenora Strong on June 30, 1936 in Sumner County. On July 4th, 1963, Don and Janice Strong were united in matrimony; together they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage. Don is survived by his wife, Janice Strong; his son Donnie Strong; his daughter and son-in-law Melody and Bobby Shaw; his daughter Janelle Strong; his sister Patsy Cink; his brother and sister-in-law Merv and Bernie Strong; his sister Connie Strong, his ten grandchildren Arinda and her husband Jordan, Levi and his wife Sarah, Emily and her husband Jon, Gabe, Jacob, Kaden, and Cheyenne; and his four great-grandchildren Camden, Addelly, Verity, and Lainey.
Don was a faithful follower of Jesus and it showed in how he lived his life, how he loved his family, and how he served his church community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Don’s commitment to his family was rooted in his desire to reflect the sacrificial love of Christ in all of his relationships. Spending time in nature often served as a source of emotional and spiritual renewal eclipsed only by Don’s love for studying scripture. Whether it be a fiery Kansas sunset, the towering monoliths of Yosemite, the roaring whitewater of Brown’s Canyon, or the majestic peaks of the Rocky Mountains, Don never failed to bask in the handywork of God, often reflecting on the overwhelming beauty of creation. “The wilderness is calling,” he would often say. A love of music also played a central role in Don’s life. He often spent hours playing his guitar and listening to a wide range of musical styles including gospel, blues, folk, and country. Don was a true patriot who served his country in the United States Army and prayed for America’s leaders daily. Don’s deepest desire in life was that all would come to know the joy and peace that comes with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Don will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A private family graveside will be held Saturday.

I will really miss this dear friend. Donnie always had a great smile, kind words and great wisdom. His love of our Lord was great. Donnie was a kind man and enjoyed his Colorado mountains. Blessings to your family and the legacy you leave behind through them.
