Gary Orville Ginn, first born child of Orville and Bess (Crumbliss) Ginn went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 25, following a battle with cancer. He was born during a blizzard on February 20, 1938, in Wellington, Kansas. Joining the family group later were siblings, Carolyn Ann and David Wendell and they all made their home in the Corbin area.
In the early fifties Gary met his future wife at a Corbin MYF party and they became a life-long couple, never dating anyone else and never moving more than 30 miles from their birth places. Gary Ginn and Clara Cottle were married at the Corbin United Methodist Church on a hot Sunday, July 1 afternoon in 1956 and enjoyed 64+ years of marriage. To their union were born Wanda Sue, Danny Eugene and Russell Dean. The family lived in the Corbin area and were very involved in activities at the church, 4-H and the Caldwell Schools.
Gary was a very civic minded man who served and presided on a number of boards, including the Corbin United Methodist Church, Sumner County Farm Bureau, Young Farmers and Farm Wives, Falls Township and the Caldwell School Board.
He was a farmer and stockman at heart for 40 years and in construction as a trade from 1973 until retirement; having built and remodeled several homes in the area. Previously, he worked for City Service Gas Company, Corbin Gas and Oil and for Webb Johnson as a carpenter. As a member of Webb’s crew, there were many comical and hilarious pranks and happenings between crew members. He loved building things for the grandkids and friends and he had a sense of humor that created many enjoyable memories for them. He especially loved to hassle the waitresses at the local restaurants and enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee at the One Stop with the guys. His off the cuff comments during his illness just go to show he had not lost his sense of humor, and he always enjoyed a good laugh, sometimes even at himself.
He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed playing softball for the Corbin Softball team in the summer. Pitch parties with Corbin neighbors during the winter months were the highlight of Saturday evenings.
Gary is survived by his wife Clara of the home; daughter Wanda Whaley of rural Caldwell, sons, Danny & Dee Ginn of Oxford, Kansas and Russell and Karen Ginn of Sugar Grove, Illinois; grandchildren, Jake & Julie Whaley of Harper, Kanas, Kyane & Chad May of Clearwater, Kansas, Codi and Nick Schale of Leavenworth, Kansas, Shallin and Micah Silkwood of Kansas City, Kansas, Mallory Ginn of Emporia, Kansas, Keith and Olivia Ginn of Matthew, North Carolina, Lauren Ginn of Elmhurst Illinois, Jim and Jennie Brewer, Lou and Cassie Fox, Katie and Mike Rivers, all of Illinois. Great-Grandchildren, Jessica Whaley of Haysville, Kansas, Elizabeth and Patrick LeCounte of Caldwell, Kansas, Ivy Berline, Ezra Berline and Eden Lee of Clearwater, Kansas, Maddie, Beckett and Ashtyn May of Andover, Kansas, Mikie and Joey Rivers, Chelby and Rylen Fox, Jimmy, Tony and Abbey Brewer all of Illinois; and one great-great-granddaughter Mya of Haysville, Kansas. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn and Clark Rains of Wellington, sister-in-law Peggy Ginn of Corbin, Kansas, and brother-in-law Ivan Cottle of Boynton, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death here his parents, Orville and Bess Ginn, brother David Ginn, son-in-law Clint Whaley, and sister in law Elva Bannister and her infant twin brother Eldon Francis.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Corzine Cemetery, Corbin, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepheard Hospice, Caldwell Care Network or to the Corbin United Methodist Church and sent in care of the mortuary.
Visitation will be held 8-5 Tuesday & Wednesday and 8-8 on Thursday.

I am saddened to learn of your dad's passing. But seeing your names brings back a flood of fond memories. Fishing, makeup football games in the front yard, field goal kicking contests, 4H, the County Fairs, softball and Little League baseball games and chili at your house in the winter to name a few. And who can forget all of our Caldwell football games! And throwing discus or javelin! We certainly had ourselves some good times as kids. I even remember a few of those card games that Gary, Clara, Bill and Georgia loved to play!
Find comfort in the Grace of God and know that he has wrapped his loving arms around your dad. God Bless all.
