George Berline

December 31, 1967 ~ February 28, 2009

George Lue Berline was born December 31, 1967 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Henry Jess and Beverly Ann Slentz Berline. He was the youngest of 7 children. He grew up on a farm in Grant County, Oklahoma. He loved the country and only lived in a town during college. He attended Caldwell public schools and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Automotive Technology and Engineering

from Pittsburg State University in 1991.

George married Kyane Nacoe Whaley on September 16, 2000. They made their home in Corbin. They had 2 children: a daughter, then a son, to complete their family in June of 2007. George started farming with his dad and brother when his feet could reach the tractor pedals. He loved his dad and talked about how he enjoyed taking his boots off for him after being out on the tractor all day. After graduation from college, he was a mechanic for Zeller Motors in Arkansas City for 5 years. He began working on jet engines for GE 11 years ago and was an inspector/mechanic there until his passing last week.

George was a proud father and had great times playing with his children. He knew how to be funny and silly with them. He adored his daughter and doted upon his son. Despite his rough and tough appearance and manner, the kids pulled a softness and goofiness from him that was endearing. He thought his children were absolutely perfect and would say so many times while watching them play together on the floor. He had a love of cars that

was passed down from his dad.

He collected and restored Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth cars and trucks and knew everything Mopar. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially if it involved being with friends. The recent purchase of the cabin at Blackwell Lake was to be the host of many more new adventures.

George loved music and had a wide range of appreciation. He loved concerts, and taught many others to love music as well. When George and Kyane started dating, they saw hundreds of musicians play. In fact, his knowledge and passion for it

is what charmed her the most. He played guitar and was partial to the Taylor and the Fender Strat. He bought his daughter a guitar last Christmas and was going to share his talent with her.

George loved to grill great steaks and

would often comment “we aren’t a chicken family....we eat beef”. He would even do the dishes afterwards, on

most occasions. He bought a Harley before he turned 40 and enjoyed every minute he rode it. George’s friendships and family were his most prized possessions and would remain loyal throughout all circumstances. George was a member of the Medford Masonic Lodge #108 AF & AM and the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell.

He is survived by Kyane, his wife, his daughter, Ivy Dayne, 7 years old, and his son, Ezra Vaughn, 20 months old, all of Corbin.

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Janeen of Medford, OK, and sisters and brothers-in-law Dee Berline-Nauman & Randy Nauman of Anchorage, AK, Darcy Berline of Lawrence, Dani Berline-Winkler & Mark Winkler of Austin, TX, and Lisa Berline of Ponca City, OK and his in-laws, Clint and Wanda Whaley of Caldwell. He has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who also miss him very much. George was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Ray.

George passed away February 28, 2009 in Caldwell, Kansas. He was 41 years old. His family loved him in indescribable ways and we will all miss him.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ivy and Ezra’s Education Fund or the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services for George will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Presbyterian Church in Caldwell. Friends may call at the Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Casket will be closed at the church.
