Greg Rohrer

Gregory Alan Rohrer of Wichita, formerly of Caldwell, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at his home in Wichita, at the age of 78—likely leaving behind a few witty remarks and a lot of fond memories.

He was born November 19, 1947, in Caldwell, the son of Athol Reginald and Anna Mae (Lebeda) Rohrer. Raised in Caldwell, Greg attended elementary school in Wellington and graduated from Caldwell High School. Well-known for his trademark orneriness, sharp tongue, and quick wit, Greg was never one to bite his tongue or miss an opportunity to crack a joke. Following graduation, he put his work ethic to use at Wichita ADT, where he stayed for 20 years, before bringing his signature humor to U.S.D. 259 for another two decades, retiring at age 62.

On January 16, 1981, Greg married the love of his life, Karen Kay Olson, in Wichita—who spent the next 40 years lovingly putting up with him. Together, they made their home and were blessed with a daughter, Dawn Renee. Karen preceded him in death on March 1, 2021. Embracing retirement, Greg enjoyed a good golf game, car shows, and farming, but most of all family time—where his good-natured teasing was always guaranteed, especially with his grandchildren.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Dawn Renee and husband, James Tucker of Wichita; two grandchildren: Tyler Wayne Tucker and Georgia Mae Tucker; and two siblings: Pete Rohrer of Wichita; and Lany Rohrer of Wichita.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Karen; and one sister, Becky Rohrer.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 2, 2026, at Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel, 6 N. Main, Caldwell, Kansas, with Pastor Jean Scott-Gauldin officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date at Upper Fall River Cemetery, Eureka.
