Helen Louise (Pryor) Williamson, 85, of Caldwell, Kansas died on September 2, 2018 at the Mount Hope Nursing Home in Mount Hope, Kansas.
Helen was born on July 22, 1933 in Caldwell to Jack and Mabel (Builta) Pryor.
On September 23, 1951, she married Roy D. Williamson. Together, they celebrated over fifty-six years of marriage and raised three children: Connie, Karen, and David, who were the joy of her life.
Helen was a homemaker and mother who worked on the family farm in Renfrow, Oklahoma alongside her husband Roy. Helen loved birds and began a business with her son David on the family farm where they raised and sold game birds such as pheasants, quail, peacocks, turkeys, and chickens. Helen also raised domestic caged birds such as parakeets, canaries, finches, cockatiels, and parrots which she sold to individuals and pet stores. Upon retirement in 1985, Helen and Roy moved from their farm to town in Caldwell, where she continued to keep a few birds as pets along with raising her beloved Chihuahua dogs.
Helen loved to sew and was an accomplished seamstress. She made all of her children’s clothing up until they left home. She also made stuffed toys, dolls, and doll clothes for her children and grandchildren. Many of her dolls and doll clothes, as well as other home textiles, were sold in the local craft shop.
Helen was a graduate of Caldwell High School - Class of 1951. Over the years, she enjoyed keeping in contact and spending time with her classmates and continued to regularly attend reunions and school events.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen Denslow and husband, Clyde, of Burrton, Kansas and son, David Williamson of Hutchinson, Kansas; granddaughters: Brandy Wyckoff (Chip) of Wellington, Kansas; Amy Smith of Burrton, Kansas; and grandsons: Justin Johnston (Susan) of Killeen, Texas; Allen Hood of Burrton, Kansas; and Matthew Combest of Ponca City, Oklahoma; as well as several great-grandchildren: Sierra Wyckoff, Brett Wyckoff, Joshua Smith, Jason Smith, Isabella Johnston, and Conner Johnston; and sisters: Rosetta Rowe of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and Catherine Schurmann of Henderson, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Connie Smith; daughter-in-law, Janice Williamson; and granddaughter, Lindsay Johnston; and brothers, Charles, Lloyd, Floyd, and Leon Pryor and sister, Dorothy Wirtz.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel, Caldwell, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in memory of Helen to the donor’s choice.
