Jimmy R. Reed

Jimmy Ray Reed, age 37, died on July 14, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1984 to Paula Simpson and Eddie Reed in Wichita, Kansas.

Jimmy worked as a contract painter with his two uncles, Johnny Simpson and Billy Joe Simpson in Kansas, Florida, Texas and other states. He became a professional painter thanks to his two uncles and he was very proud of his accomplishment.

The majority of his life he was close with his family and he had a “heart of gold”. If you had the pleasure of knowing him well enough, you already knew this. Jimmy was a lot like his father, as he would not hesitate to offer help to a person in need, even if they were a stranger.

Jimmy was blessed to have a loving mother, Paula Kay Simpson and step-dad Paul Richard Jones. They stood beside him through the good and bad times and even when it seemed to Jimmy that nobody else was there.

Jimmy loved to fish at Wellington Lake when he was younger with his dad and later with his mom and step-dad.

Jimmy is now reunited with his dad, Eddie Ray Reed, grandfather, Bobby Simpson; aunt Pam Martinez; uncles Bradly Simpson and his favorite uncle Johnny Simpson in Heaven looking down upon us all.

He is survived by his mother Paula Simpson, step-dad Paul Jones; son, Cole Corbin; daughter, Paula K.; brother, Billy Reed; sisters, Angie and Dina Reed; grandmother, Wanda Taber; aunts, Patricia Lock and Debbie Strout and family; uncles, Billy Joe Simpson, Felix Martinez and Andres Martinez. He is also survived by his cousins, Pete Model and family, Patrina Model and family, Joe Martinez and family, Jessica Martinez and family, Jake Williams and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday. July 19, 2021 at the Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel in Caldwell, Kansas with Father Thomas Hoisington officiating. Burial will follow at Corzine Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Schaeffer Mortuary to assist with funeral expenses.

Visitation will be held 8-5 Friday & Saturday and 1-5 Sunday.
