Kenneth L. Kollmorgen


November 22, 1934 ~ November 16, 2016


Kenneth Lee Kollmorgen, son of Conrad and Opal Kollmorgen, was born on November 22, 1934 at home in Bluff City, Kansas. He passed away at 1:50 pm, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 25 days, at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington Kansas.


On December 28, 1971 he was united in marriage to Judy Elaine Dyck. To this union was born one daughter, Karen LaVon. He also had a daughter, Audrey Delene, and two sons, Mark Conrad and Mardy Ray, from a previous marriage. Kenny and Judy were foster parents for 5 years. They had about 30 children through the home during that time period. They also adopted their first grandchild, Kevin Dakota, as one of their own.


Kenneth was baptized as a child into Evangelical faith. He attended the South Haven Christian Church. He was a wonderful husband and father. He worked for 28 years at Lamar Electro – Air in Wellington Kansas as a Level 3 NDT Inspector. After his retirement from Lamar, he went to work for Carl Parcher at South Haven LP Gas delivering fuel to the farmers as well as propane to those customers for 15 years. He enjoyed gardening and mowing grass. He enjoyed his horses over the years. He enjoyed recording football and basketball games for the South Haven coaches & teams. He had a passion for the sports events that his children were either playing in or coaching over the years. He played slow pitch softball for many years pitching and bowling was one of his enjoyments as long as his health allowed. In practice he bowled a 300. He also got to go to Reno, Nevada on a team to bowl in the National Tournament.


Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen Lockwood. He is survived by his wife, Judy, whom cared for him faithfully until his departure; three sons Mark Conrad Bliss and wife Jill of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mardy Ray Kollmorgen Bliss and wife Marcie of Tecumseh, Okla, and Kevin Dakota Kollmorgen and wife Jessica of South Haven; two daughters, Karen LaVon (Kollmorgen) Black, of South Haven and Audrey Delene Thompson of Shawnee, Okla; one brother Leonard Lockwood of Leavenworth, Ks; three sisters, Hazel Sandell of Beaver City, Ne, Judy Knight of Haysville, Ks; Sharit McGinnis of Wichita, Ks; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 on the way and a host of family and friends.


A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel in Caldwell, Kansas.


Memorials may be given in care of the mortuary to help with funeral expenses.
