Milford Wencel

Milford Lee Wencel, age 97, of Wichita, Kansas, died on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Milford was born in Caldwell, Kansas, in 1928 to Rose and Frank Wencel. He graduated from Kansas State University and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He worked at Boeing Aircraft Company as a project manager until his retirement in 1985. He then took on what he claimed was the most important job of his life, that of a grandfather (Papa).

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan; sons Mark (Judith) of Wichita, Kansas, and Grant (Linda) of Bend, Oregon; five grandchildren, Lauren Daughtrey (William), Katharine Elder (George), Erin Brouillette (Justin), Carrie Wencel (Jason Stock), and Anna Wencel (Edwin Tsang); five great-grandchildren, Martha, Oliver, Maddy, Henry, and Luca; and his brother, Wayne of Caldwell, Kansas.

Private family graveside services were held at Czechoslovakian Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and sent in care of the mortuary.
