Rick Lee

Ricky Dwain Lee, age 66, of Lawson, Missouri passed away on September 16, 2026. He was born on September 28, 1959 in Kansas City Missouri to Larry L. Lee and Ruby D. Lee (Arterburn).

Ricky graduated from Oak Park High School in 1978, and went on to meet the love of his life, Shannon Dye in the Fall of 1981. They were married June 11, 1983 and spent every day together until the day he died. The were married 43 years and Shannon was Ricky’s rock, supporter and advocate until the moment he passed. They were in love and showed that love to their children.

Ricky and Shannon built a family together with the arrival of Ricky and Danielle. They lived in Gladstone, Missouri and raised their children there. In 2015 Ricky and Shannon moved to Lawson, Missouri. The move to Lawson, Missouri enabled them to be closer to Ricky who lives in Lawson and Danielle who lives in Smithville and they could be minutes from their grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob, Jacelyn and Ruby. Ricky loved his children and life changes made it able for him and Shannon to be a positive influence to their grandchildren on a daily basis. This was most important to them both and Ricky embraced the relationships he had with each grandchild. Ricky who was a story teller who had special stories about each one of them. His face would glow as he talked about them and Ricky was madly in love with them all.

The move to Lawson, Missouri allowed Ricky to feel at home in the country. He was able to have all his family close where they all felt at home. While Ricky was living his best country life with his family close, he loved being able to have dogs, cats and chickens whom he referred to as “The Ladies”.

Ricky is survived by the love of his life, Shannon Lee, son Ricky Lee II, spouse Ashley Lee, daughter Danielle Petree spouse Matthew Petree and his four cherished Grandchildren, Jackson Lee (Action Jackson), Jacob Lee (Jake the Snake), Jacelyn Lee (Gypsy) and Ruby Ann Petree (ToeBone). Brothers Mark Lee (Maddog) spouse Carrie Lee and David Lee (Budda). Ricky had nicknames for everyone and some may have never known their nickname.

He is proceeded in death by his Parents Larry L. Lee and Ruby D. Lee.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel, Caldwell, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Wellington Humane Society and sent in care of the mortuary.
