Rudy Wesley Dvorak was born August 1,1938 on the farm in Renfrow, Oklahoma. He was born the son of Lawrence T. and Bessie C. Dvorak. Rudy died at the Sumner County Hospital District #1 June 10, 2021. He was 82 years old.
He grew up on a farm west of town and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1956. He attended Southwestern College on a football scholarship where he was coached by his older brother, Bob. He graduated with a degree in secondary education. He also met the love of his life while at Southwestern, Sandra Beryl Shoemaker, who later became his wife. They were married August 5, 1961.
His teaching and coaching career took him to Dexter, Delphos, and McCune Schools. He then left teaching to take up farming. He farmed in the Caldwell area. He later worked as a machinist at Precision Machining in Wellington for 5 years before he retired.
Rudy and Beryl adopted two sons, Danny in 1969 and Chad in 1972. They moved to a farm outside of Caldwell in 1973 and later moved into town in 1983. He rarely missed an opportunity to attend one of his grandkids events and enjoyed driving the country roads looking at the farm fields.
He is survived by sons, Danny (Julie) and Chad (Brandi), all of Caldwell; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Rudy was preceded in death by his wife Beryl; parents, Theodore and Bessie Dvorak and brothers Bob, Marlin and Don.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Cremation is taking place and memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel in Caldwell, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the CHS Alumni Scholarship Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
Visitation will be held 8-5 Monday thru Thursday.
Uncle Rudy was a wonderful man and will be missed tremendously! I will treasure the times running at the Caldwell relays having Uncle Rudy and Uncle Don cheering me on! RIP Uncle Rudy!! Love you!
