Veda was born May 13, 1932, to Eda and Max Lafferty in Caldwell, KS.
She attended Caldwell High School where she met the love of her life, Marlin Dvorak. They were married June 10, 1953, and had three children: Greg, Gayla and Michelle. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing and had a varied nursing career but primarily as a skilled surgery nurse.
She was preceded in death by Max Lafferty, Eda and Ben Urban, Marlin and Greg Dvorak, and Eugene Cheadle.
She is survived by Melanie Dvorak, Travis Dvorak, Theodore Dvorak, Jessica (Jody) Volavka, Tyler Dvorak, Gayla Beaute, and Monique Cheadle, Terry and Michelle Schaffer. As well as many great grandchildren.
She was known by family and friends for her baking and warm heart. She passed peacefully at home on October 3, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2025 at Schaeffer Mortuary with Pastor J. Young officiating. Interment will follow at Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.
