Virginia Coppeler


August 31, 1923 ~ July 24, 2014


Virginia Yeary Coppeler, 90, of South Haven, Kansas, passed away on July 24, 2014. She was born August 31, 1923 in Grant County, Oklahoma to Floyd and Dottie Myrtle (Curry) Yeary.


Virginia attended high school in Caldwell, Kansas. She worked on farms in the area until she met the love of her life, Warren “Curly” Coppeler. They eloped to Enid, Oklahoma in May 1943 and moved to the Dayton, Ohio area briefly, returning to South Central Kansas to farm. Virginia also worked at Beech Aircraft for 28 years. She was devoted to her husband and friends and loved animals.


She is survived by her husband “Curly”; nephew, Alan Yeary of Dodge City, KS; niece, Teresa Yeary of Ames, IA; and her adored Bichon Frise, Rocky.


No visitation will be held.


Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.


Memorials may be given in memory of Virginia to the Wellington Humane Society, P.O. Box 494, Wellington, Kansas 67152

Dear Curly,

We are so sorry for your loss of our dear Virginia. Even though we did not know her very long, we felt a real bond with her, and will greatly miss her. We are also sorry we could not be with you for her funeral, but we will be back there soon. Take care of yourself and Rocky.

Virginia, was always happy and full of energy. Curly and Virginia were always smiling and enjoyed their life together. I will always remember her smile.
