Warren G. Coppeler


December 10, 1921 ~ January 20, 2015


Warren Coppeler, 93, of South Haven, Kansas, passed away on January 20, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Wellington, Kansas. He was born December 10, 1921 in Swan Creek, Fulton County, Ohio, to Cecil and Pearl (Harvey) Coppeler. He was placed in the Western Oklahoma State School For White Children in Helena, Oklahoma, when he was a toddler and lived there until age 18 years. After leaving the orphanage, he learned carpentry in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma then traveled to Colorado, Utah and Kansas for work. In 1943, Warren met Virginia Yeary in a Caldwell, Kansas ice cream shop and they eloped to Enid, Oklahoma. Thereafter the couple lived and worked in farming communities in south central Kansas and retired to South Haven, Kansas in 1997. Warren is survived by his nephew, Alan Yeary of Dodge City, Kansas and his niece, Teresa Yeary of Ames, Iowa.


Memorials may be given in memory of Warren to the Cowley County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.


A graveside service will be held 2:00 p..m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Caldwell City Cemetery, Caldwell, Kansas.
