Wilma Roberta Williams was born September 6, 1921 to William Robert and Lela Viola Lucas Joy in Hutchinson, Kansas. She passed away August 20, 2020 at the Spring View Manor in Conway Springs, Kansas. She was 98 years old.
Wilma attended school in Caldwell, graduating with the class of 1939.
She married Harry G. Smith in 1944. To this union two sons, William and Bob were born.
Harry passed away in 1955, leaving Wilma to care for two young sons.
Wilma had various jobs over the years. In 1957 she married Dominic Wandler. A daughter, Joy, was born to this union. They were divorced in 1965.
Wilma loved Caldwell Homecomings and look forward to it every year. She reconnected with a former classmate, John Williams, at homecoming one year and they were married. He worked in the aircraft industry and they lived in and traveled to many states before they settled in Caldwell. John passed away in 2000.
Wilma became a resident of the Goodrick Home in 2009 where she was lovingly cared for by the Crows. A fall forced her to move to Spring View Manor in 2010.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Lorene Heitman Joy, her husband’s Harry and John and her children Bill, Bob and Joy.
Her only survivors are some cousins.
She has been cremated and requested no service.
Memorials may be given in memory of Wilma to the Caldwell Senior Center or the Caldwell High School Alumni Association and may be left in care of the mortuary.
