Zella Bickley


September 12, 1926 ~ December 31, 2012


Zella Mae “Beany” Bickley, 86, of Caldwell, Kansas, died early Monday morning, December 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Wellington, Kansas.


She was born the youngest child of Clarence and Beatrice (Roberman) Crumet, on September 12, 1926 at Indianapolis, Indiana.


She was married to Harry Simmons and to this union was born Harry, Karen, Sharon and Connie.


While delivering clothes to her children in Enid “Beany” as she was known, met a young accountant and cigar salesman named Joe Bickley. He showed up at Beany’s door a few days later and they were together until Joe’s death April 11, 2003.


They moved to Denver where Joe drove a truck for a bread company and Beany worked for Montgomery Ward. After 10 years, Joe proposed and Beany accepted. They were married May 14, 1962 in Golden, Colorado.


In the summer of 1989, after Joe’s retirement they moved to Caldwell, Kansas.


Zella was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen; sisters, Wanda Crumet, Doris “Perky” Downing and her brother, Austin Crumet.


She is survived by her children Harry, Connie and Sharon, many nieces and nephews.


Following her wishes, no services will take place and ashes scattered in Colorado.

My husband and I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of your beloved Zella. We wanted to share with you some comfort from God's Word, found in John 5:28,29. Here we are given the loving hope of the ressurection of our dear loved ones. The God of comfort also reassures us that he is near to those broken at heart and to those crushed in spirit he saves. (Psalm 34:18). May you draw comfort in the many wonderful memories you all made shared together cherish them in your hearts and her memory will live on in each and every one of you, take care of yourselves and each other.
